Christmas charitable donations 2020

Every year Veritas supports good causes with donations that are announced around Christmas every year. For 2020 our Christmas donations went to The Icelandic Church Aid and the Icelandic Women's Shelter. They are happy to be able to contribute to the work that both organizations carry out in the community. Merry Christmas.

The Icelandic Church Aid, ICA, provides emergency aid to, - and runs empowerment and advocacy projects with people experiencing poverty in Iceland. We initiate and coordinate humanitarian assistance and development cooperation projects abroad on behalf of the National Church of Iceland and have done so for over 50 years. 

The Women’s Shelter was established on June 2nd 1982. It was decided on the inaugural meeting to open a shelter for women who were not able to stay in their own homes due to violence. On December the 6th on the same year the Women’s Shelter was opened.

Today, the Women Shelter’s Association runs two shelters, one in Reykjavik and one in Akureyri. Women and their children can stay at the shelters when they cannot stay at home due to violence on behalf of a partner or other members of the household. The shelters are also for women who have been raped or are victims of trafficking.

During the stay, women are offered interviews with the shelter’s consultants. The interviews can be in the form of general consultation, advice, support, information access and/or guidelines.
